Game of Thrones Book Cover Nails

Kate's Nails
Tonight is the Season 3 premier of Game of Thrones on HBO! I am so excited for this season.  The third book is the best in the series, so this season should be fantastic.  For these nails, I got my inspiration from the book covers:

These nails took forever to do, but I'm happy with how they turned out.  Will you be watching Game of Thrones tonight??

Happy Easter!

Kate's Nails
Happy Easter, everyone!  I saw THESE EASTER NAILS on one of my favorite nails blogs, pshiiit.com.  I loved the idea of Easter nails that weren't totally pastel and cutesy.  I decided to be a copycat and try the design for myself.
I hope everyone has a fun Easter :)

March Birchbox

Time for the monthly Birchbox review!  This month was ok.  A few good products, and one not so good one. If you're wondering what a Birchbox is, or if you want to see previous Birchbox posts, click HERE.

Caldrea Body Lotion:
Included this month were three samples of Caldrea's body lotion.  I got: Tea Olive Lime, Aloe Water Apricot, and Coconut Fig.  Aloe Water Apricot was my favorite of the three.  These moisturized really well without being heavy.  However, you need to use a lot of product to get results.  I thought the sample sizes were pretty generous, but each sample was barely enough for my legs.
(Full size - $22)

Make Dual-Phase Eye Makeup Remover:
This is a quality makeup remover.  I would compare it to Clinique's Take the Day Off.  It does what it promises, and doesn't bother my sensitive skin.  This was my favorite of the samples this month.
(Full Size - $18)

Make Lipstick:
I never wear lipstick, so I wasn't too excited to get a lipstick sample.  I think that lipstick looks fake on me, and so I never wear it.  However, I tried this sample out, and this shade (Putty) works really well on me.  It's like my natural lip color, just pumped up a bit.  I might actual wear this from time to time!
(Full Size - $18)

Serge Normant Meta Revive Dry Shampoo:
Ugh. This was the loser of this month's box.  I have mentioned before that I have tried many different dry shampoos in the hopes of helping my poor, grease prone hair.  None of them have worked so far, and this one is no different.  Well, maybe I shouldn't say that.  It did take a bit of the grease out of my hair, and did give me a bit of volume.  But none of that was worth it for how it made my hair feel.  It was like putting glue in my hair!  Washing it out was a pain too - I had to shampoo three times!
(Full Size - $25)

Madewell for Birchbox Emery Board:
This is a cute, medium grain emery board.  Not much else to say about it!
(Full Size - $5)

Zoya Blu

Kate's Nails
I can't seem to kick this pastel habit!  This blue was my pick from the Zoya Spring collection, and I love it.  It applies in two easy coats, and levels itself beautifully.  I'll be wearing it a lot this spring for sure!

Avant Garden - Fade into Hue

Kate's Nails
I have been anxiously awaiting the Avant Garden collection from China Glaze ever since I saw the press release months ago.  This collection has some really fantastic colors in it.  I was already in the middle of a polish splurge when I came across the collection in Ulta, so I somehow limited myself to only one polish.  I opted for Fade Into Hue, which is a soft periwinkle.  I absolutely loved the color in all the swatches I had seen, and I love it on my nails too.  I paired it here with some flowers using Julep's Teri, and the leaves and dots were done in Sally Hansen's Jungle Gem (a fabulous color that Cara just rocked HERE).  This was a very simple design to do, but I'm really loving the result!  These spring polish lines are going to cause me to go broke...

Blue Arrow

Cara's Nails
My nails have been sporting a lot of pastels lately due to all the new collections coming out. I needed something dark for a little change. I used a striping brush to create the arrows over a base of Sally Hansen Jungle Gem. This is a rich blue-green color with a great formula. It went on smooth and opaque in only one coat. I went ahead an did two just in case but it really did not need it. My accent nail is Orly Peaceful Opposition. This is a new glitter bit polish in a white base. I can simply say that this polish is awesome! Here I have three coats which was needed to make it opaque.

Zoya Neely

Cara's Nails

I am trying to work my way through all my latest polish purchases. I think this time I may have lost control a little. This post is all about Zoya Neely from the Lovely collection. I believe that mint is the color for Spring. At the very least it will be my color for Spring!!

Here I have Neely paired with Jacqueline also from the Lovely collection.
Here is Neely as an accent nail to China Glaze It's a Trapeze. This glitter(?) is another one of my newest purchases but I will express my love for this polish in a later post.

St. Patrick's Day Nails!

Kate's Nails
It's St. Patrick's day weekend!!  St. Pat's is one of my favorite holidays, so I had to do some festive nails.  I couldn't pick one idea, so I combined a few for this manicure.  Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Polishes Used:
OPI Don't Mess With OPI
Sinful Colors Big Daddy
Milani White on the Spot
OPI Fresh Frog of Bel Air
Milani Gold Glitz

Mint Mani

Cara's Nails

I wanted to show off one of my favorite polishes from my Julep Maven subscription. Shenae is a minty green with a subtle blue/purple shimmer running through it. I am not typically a fan of pastels or shimmers but that seems to be the trend for Spring colors so I am trying to embracing it. I am very much in love with this color. The basket weave and dots were created with Julep Amelia. Amelia is a nude but also a shimmer. I think the two compliment each other nicely.

Julep Teri

Cara's Nails

Today's polish showed up on my doorstep in a nice little black box. Kate showed off the other two polishes from the Julep Maven box in this post from early last week. Teri is a creme polish with a coral look and a hint of orange. I paired it here with a halo accent nail of Dodgy Barnett by Butter London.

Blurple Dots

Cara's Nails

I cannot get enough of these blues from the OPI Euro Centrale collection! Especially this "blurple" color, OPI...Eurso Euro. I used it  as a base color and dotted Can't Find My Czechbook overtop.

Julep Gradient Nails

Kate's Nails
Cara was kind enough to share her Julep Maven box with me this month, and it has some fantastic colors in it!  I used two of them to create this gradient manicure - Shenae and Simone. I then stamped over my ring finger with Essie's No Place Like Chrome, and plate SH18.
My nails are ready for spring. Now if the weather would just get on board...

Tie Dye Day Nails

Kate's Nails
This week was spirit week at school, and today was Tie Dye Day.  I needed to do some nails to match the sweet shirt that I had tie dyed yesterday afternoon.  I am terrible at water-marbling, so I knew that technique was out.  Last year I did some needle marbling tie dye nails, so I decided to try that again.  Two failed attempts in, I decided to call it quits and go for an easier option.  These nails were done by stamping the swirl design, and then coloring it in using a medium length striper.  Sorry for the awful picture!
